Basic Tips

Taxis.

You could get Grab (e-taxi) from outside the airport premises. You cannot order it from the airport as the taxi-app is blocked, and those who offer a transfer at the airport charge 1000% more than Grab.

Weather.

The best time to visit Da Nang, regarding weather, is between April and September, from October to December there’s the rainy season.

High temperatures.

During high season, do not go to the beach between 9 am and 5 pm, it’s too hot and even bathing in the sea. The best plan is to walk along the waterfront when night has fallen.

Highlights

Beach.

Da Nang has one of the best beaches in Vietnam. The water and sand are very clean and its beaches are wide. Bear in mind, the water is very hot.

Dragon Bridge.

Visit the Dragon Bridge at night. This bridge, that spans Han River, was built in the shape of a dragon. At night it’s illuminated with an outstanding display of lights. Furthermore, on Sundays at 9 pm it spits fire from its mouth.

Son Tra Night Market.

Visit Son Tra Night market. This market is open every day from 6 pm to midnight. You will find food stalls, crafts, clothing, souvenirs and, of course, karaoke. It’s located at one of the ends of the Dragon Bridge, just opposite the Love Bridge.

Love Bridge.

Love Bridge: it’s the typical bridge where couples would put a padlock to seal their love. Truth is this bridge is the best place from where take photos of the Dragon Bridge and appreciate its light show.

Phap Lam pagoda

Visit Phap Lam pagoda. It’s a Buddhist temple built in 1934. Surrounded by trees and gardens, its architecture is very different from what we are used to see in the West. The sculptures found there are also very nice. Admission is free.

Cham Sculpture Museum

Go to Da Nang Cham Sculpture Museum. It’s a very interesting museum to observe the sculptures made during the Kingdom of Champa between the 2nd and 18th centuries. Entry VND 40000.

Ba Na Hills

Don’t miss the opportunity to visit Sunworld Amusement Park in Ba Na Hills, and be taken aback by the Golden Bridge. Located 1500 metres above sea level, its views are just stunning and its gardens, beautiful. Access and connections are by cable car (the longest in the world). There you’d find the Golden Bridge, a bridge supported by two giant hands. On another mountain a 16th century French villa was recreated. The ticket price VND 750,000 (USD 32). (It’s the only expensive thing in Vietnam, compared to other things, but it’s well worth the investment.)

Marble Mountains

Visit the Marble Mountains. They are 5 mountains, but visiting only the main one, where most of the caves and temples are located, is enough. Ticket price is VND 40,000 and we recommend taking the elevator to go up for an extra fee (VND 15,000). Wear shoes with good grip to avoid slipping.

Son Tra Peninsula (Monkey Mountain)

Visit Son Tra peninsula (better known as Monkey Mountain). The place is obviously full of monkeys. From there, the beaches views are impressive. The main attraction is a giant Lady Buddha statue, 67 meters high.
